Frequently Asked Questions at Lake-Cook Reporting.

What services does Lake Cook Reporting provide?

While we specialize in court reporting, we provide a wide range of services. At our office complex, room rentals, meeting spaces, and video conferencing units are available for rental. Depositions can also be video taped by one of our certified legal videographers.

Where do your court reporters operate? Are they available downstate, nationally, internationally, etc.?

We have reporters based all across the Chicago area, both in the downtown Chicago Loop and surrounding suburbs. Many of our reporters are near courthouses such as Lake County, all of the Cook County courts (including the Daley Center downtown), and DuPage County Courthouse.

While we operate primarily in the Chicago city and suburbs, our reporters have taken both national and international cases. We also frequently do downstate Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana cases as well.

How soon in advance should I schedule? What about nights and weekends?

For cases in our office, we recommend booking at least one week in advance to ensure the room and reporter you want is available. But, we often are able to provide accommodation for last-minute bookings as well. Flexible scheduling options are available for after-hours cases or weekend depositions.

Can my questions or scheduling be done outside of business hours?

Customers can schedule bookings or ask questions through our website or by email 24 hours a day seven days a week. Phone calls after 5pm or on weekends are forwarded to a cell phone, allowing us to respond quickly to your inquiries.

Do I have to pay for room rentals and court reporters?

When depositions are booked at our office and use one of our court reporters, we do not charge for room rental services. Other services, such as video conferencing, legal video recording, and more are discounted when using our court reporters. We also provide free deposition suites at a number of locations across the country.

How far is your office from O’Hare Airport? What about the area courthouses and downtown?

Due to our centralized location right off I-94, we are a reasonable distance from the airport and the north suburban courthouses.

Under normal driving conditions, our office is 20 minutes away from O’Hare International Airport (south of us) and the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan (to our north). We are approximately 15 minutes away from the Cook County Circuit Court – District 2 in Skokie (to our south). Cook County Circuit Court – District 3 in Rolling Meadows is about 25 minutes to our west.

For downtown jobs, we are about 45 minutes away from the Daley Center under normal traffic conditions. Our reporters are located all over the Chicagoland area and can travel downtown.

Traveling from downtown to our office? Take public transportation and we’ll pick you up for free! Clients taking the CTA can take the Blue Line towards O’Hare and get off at the Cumberland stop. Metra riders can take the Milwaukee District North line out of Union Station and get off at Lake Forest. Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you require pick up.

Travel times might be extended during inclement weather, rush hour, construction, or other hazards.

Is your Chicago office located near the downtown courthouses?

Yes! Our Chicago office sits near Chase Tower in the Chicago Loop. We are about a 10 minute walk from the Daley Center, Thompson Center, and other key locations. Our downtown office is accessible at the Monroe Blue Line CTA stop (with a direct train every six minutes to O’Hare Airport) and within short walking distance of Red Line, Orange Line, Pink Line, Green Line, and Purple Line stations. We are also one block away from the new Jeffery Jump express bus service.

Are there local hotel accommodations for multi-day depositions?

We have a number of hotels in the area that we can drive you to and from. The Bannockburn/Deerfield La Quinta Inn is within walking distance of our facility. Call or email us and we’ll help out with reservations and transportation.

Our case works with large amounts of exhibits. Can Lake-Cook Reporting assist with printing/scanning/faxing them?

Our Deerfield, Illinois location is well-suited for cases working with a large number of files. We can send and receive faxes from remote locations. We also make copies of exhibits or other paper files or digitize them for access via email or cloud access through our online digital repository. A dedicated fax and copy machine is also available in our large glass conference room.

What delivery options are available for transcripts?

We offer traditional hard-copy transcripts to mail or pick up, as well as a variety of digital options. Transcripts can be emailed electronically in any format (PDF or RealLegal E-Transcript are the most common) or stored with exhibits in the digital repository on our website.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance incur no charges or fees. For the convenience of our reporters, cancellations within 24 hours of a scheduled deposition will be charged the attendance fee.
